Over the course of the last year I have embarked on a different way of capturing a person through a series of what I call portrait conversations; fresh portraits sketched with oil sticks on paper while chatting in informal sittings.  No set-up, no photographs, no later studio touch-ups.  It's been both exhilerating and touching for me to do these, to be so present with my subjects and to paint without thinking.
